Glyph Mosaic
A gradient rendered entirely in monospaced characters.
THE STORY
I spend most of my day in a terminal, so it felt right to make something that lives there too. This is an image reconstructed entirely from monospaced glyphs, each character chosen because its ink coverage matches the brightness of the pixel underneath it.
The ramp goes from a bare space through dots and dashes up to dense blocks like @ and #. Squint and the characters dissolve into a smooth gradient; lean in and it's just text you could paste into a chat window.
It renders straight to the terminal with ANSI colour, which means the 'original' of this piece is technically a shell command. The PNG here is just a screenshot of the real thing running.
