Circuit Trace

Right-angle routing as ornament: the board as a drawing.

THE STORY

I've always thought PCB layouts were beautiful in a way nobody intends them to be. All those right-angle traces routing around each other, the little vias, the way a dense board looks like a city seen from orbit. This is an attempt to draw that on purpose.

It's a self-avoiding walk on a grid: traces grow one step at a time, turning only at right angles, and back off whenever they'd collide with a path already laid down. Vias get dropped wherever a trace needs to jump a crossing. No electrical rules, just the visual grammar of a board.

Pure vector, so it scales to any size without softening. I want to get it etched into actual copper-clad board one day and see it as the object it's pretending to be.
